Our Story

United Women of the Horn is a coalition of Black women advocating for women in leadership, civil liberties, inclusivity, socio-economic equity, gender rights, and social change. Our mission is to bridge communities and mobilize for transformative change in some of the disenfranchised cities of this country. United Women of the Horn’s main focus areas are:

  1. Women in leadership

  2. Civic engagement + coalition building

  3. Interfaith solidarity

  4. Storytelling, arts and healing

  5. Mental health and wellbeing

  6. Gender-based violence

  7. Immigrants’ rights and racial justice. 

We are a group of women from different backgrounds, ethnicities, faiths, and experiences but we see the importance of being active forces for social change, justice, development and human rights. Whether it is advancing women's rights, supporting besieged communities, or promoting democracy and inclusivity, our commitment knows no borders. United Women of the Horn is dedicated to making a difference in the lives of those we serve on both sides of the ocean.
